i chose this picture because i think it looks pretty cool. i found it one night in my backyard so i photographed it. i dont really like spiders, but i think they're pretty cool looking.

critique me?

This is a portrait of my good friend kyle. i made it black and white to set out some of the contrast and show the shades. once again i pulled this from the photozine, but i think it portrays a good style. i like portraits when the person isn't technically looking at the camera or paying attention because it has more of a candid style to it. i always have found pictures like those very appealing or interesting so i tend to try and capture that in my imaging.

critique me!!!!

if you've ever heard of the song the good times are killing me by modest mouse then you may understand what i was getting at. this picture was actually from the photozine. i think the theme worked well with the pictures i had. basically self explanitory if you look at the lyrics, i think it was one of my favorite projects because of that. photozines are nice because it's sort of like an unsaid story- you gotta figure it all out.

update 11/9/09

This weekend i went to a show to photograph. it was definately alot of fun, and something i can see myself doing in the future. i think to have a career in photography would be a really positive thing because i've always found pictures interesting. when i was younger i would never read books, just look at the pictures. after the show when i was looking over the pictures i realized how influential all of that was. i'm definately glad i took the chance to do that, i could never regret in photography.

update. ;)

this weekend there was a halloween show. for one of my friends band, i photographed. i think mostly other than that i hadn't used my camera as much as i should've. although doing so made me think about how much i love the music scene and photography scene intertwined with it. anyways, i still have ideas coming up for what im going to do in future projects but i'd definately like to start involving myself with more and more photography. if i were to keep photographing then my pictures wouldn't lack so much. :]

#001.

Photography has caught my interest more and more over the years. As an artist myself, i strive to accomplish not only interesting photos, but yet the best ones i can take. To my own taste, i edit with alot of contrast to highlight shadows. Whereas i'm not a big fan of black and white photos so i avoid them much as possible. My goal as an artist is to continue with photography itself and to keep moving forward with it. Ten years from now i want to be able to look back on these projects and see how much i've advanced. As Adam Ansels once said, "the only things that compatibly exist in this grand universe are the creative works of the human spirit".
